Duties
The appointee will work with a team of professional librarians and support staff to deliver quality library services to support the University’s research and learning initiatives. He/She will be required to:
(a) provide in-depth instructional and consultation services for students and faculty on finding, using and managing information effectively, including using AI tools for learning and research;
(b) develop the Library’s information literacy programmes, actively collaborating with Faculty to integrate these programmes into the academic curriculum, with focus on AI literacy and emerging technologies;
(c) advise and support faculty and research students on dissemination and preservation of research output, enhancing research impact, and using bibliographical citation management tools, including AI-powered solutions;
(d) create online guides, interactive content, instructional videos to enhance Library’s e-learning support services, leveraging AI where appropriate;
(e) promote the Library’s services and resources, and engage with Faculty and the academic community through outreach, collaboration, and engagement to assess users’ needs;
(f) develop new services to support the University’s research and learning initiatives, with an emphasis on digital transformation and AI integration;
(g) serve as the Faculty Librarian, ensuring Library’s resources and services meet their learning, teaching and research needs;
(h) support collection development of print and online resources, especially those for business disciplines and emerging technologies;
(i) provide reference services; and
(j) perform any other duties as assigned by the University Librarian or her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree with a postgraduate qualification in Library Science or Information Science;
(b) at least eight years of solid relevant experience in a large academic library setting including supervisory experience;
(c) proven track record in library instruction and reference services, information literacy, database searching, bibliographical management tools, and new forms of scholarly communication; knowledge of business disciplines and information resources and AI technology is highly advantageous;
(d) excellent instructional, presentation, communication and customer service skills; and
(e) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
