We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the Library:
Assistant Librarian I / II at the rank of Manager / Assistant Manager (User Experience & Services Marketing) (LIB)(Ref:24002IA)
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:
- Overseeing operations, staff supervision and training of library’s user experience, outreach and services marketing activities;
- Planning and developing promotional strategies, marketing materials and library publications via physical and online channels to promote the use of library services and resources;
- Cooperating with the Information & Instructional Services Librarian and the User Education Librarian to facilitate users in using library resources and services effectively;
- Providing reference and enquiry services to provide prompt and accurate responses to users’ enquiries;
- Serving in Library Subject Teams for academic liaison and collection development;
- Serving on committees and task forces as appropriate; and
- Performing any other duties as assigned by the University Librarian or his/her nominee(s).
Candidates
Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:
- A recognized degree and a professional library qualification (e.g. AALIA, ALA, MCLIP, MLIS or equivalent);
- At least 6 years’ relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in an academic library;
- In-depth knowledge and experience of promoting library collections and services to increase users’ awareness;
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable to rapidly changing needs;
- Strong planning, problem-solving and organizational skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua;
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work; and
- Knowledge of WordPress is a plus.
Applicants with less relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Assistant Librarian II. Candidates without a professional library qualification (e.g. AALIA, ALA, MCLIP, MLIS or equivalent) may be appointed as Manager / Assistant Manager, commensurate with work experience.
Candidates may be invited to attend a written test.
