Duties
The appointee will work with a team of professional librarians and support staff to deliver quality library services to support the University’s research and learning initiatives. He/She will be required to:
(a) provide in-depth instructional and consultation services for students and faculty on finding, using and managing information effectively, including ethical application of AI tools for learning and research;
(b) develop the Library’s information literacy programmes, actively collaborating with Faculty to integrate these into the curriculum, with a focus on AI literacy and emerging technologies;
(c) advise and support faculty and researchers on dissemination and preservation of research output, enhancing research impact, and using citation management tools, including AI-powered solutions;
(d) create multimedia instructional content, such as online guides and videos, to enhance Library’s e-learning support, leveraging AI tools where appropriate;
(e) promote Library’s services and engage with academic community through targeted outreach to assess users’ needs;
(f) develop innovative services to support the University’s research and learning, with an emphasis on digital transformation and AI integration;
(g) serve as the Faculty Librarian for the Faculty of Business, ensuring Library’s resources and services meet their specific teaching and research requirements;
(h) support collection development of print and online resources, especially those for business disciplines;
(i) provide reference services; and
(j) perform any other duties as assigned by the University Librarian or her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree with a postgraduate qualification in Library Science or Information Science;
(b) at least five years of relevant professional and supervisory experience, preferably in an academic library setting with involvement in AI-related projects or initiatives;
(c) a solid understanding of business research methods, company valuation, and industry analysis, including proficiency with tools such as Bloomberg, Statista, LSEG Workspace;
(d) a proven track record in library instruction and reference services, with AI literacy and ability to apply AI tools in a research context are highly advantageous;
(e) excellent instructional, communication and interpersonal skills; and
(f) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
