Saint Francis University (SFU) has its origins in Caritas Francis Hsu College (CFHC), which was founded in 1985.  In May 2011, the College was granted a degree-conferring status and its name was changed to Caritas Institute of Higher Education (CIHE). The Institute worked vigorously towards establishing a self-financed Catholic University in Hong Kong. On 9 January 2024, formal approval was given by the Executive Council of HKSAR for the Institute to be upgraded and renamed Saint Francis University (SFU), making it the first catholic institute of tertiary education and the fourth private university in the city.  SFU is dedicated to nurturing responsible and respectable graduates who are academically and professionally competent and who can contribute to the social and moral well-being of the community. It is currently offering Postgraduate, Undergraduate as well as Higher Diploma programmes in various disciplines.

Assistant Librarian II (Electronic Resources Management)

Major duties and responsibilities

  1. assist in conducting daily activities concerning the e-collections of the Library (such as liaising with suppliers with regard to acquisition, subscription, renewal and payment) and in managing the budget for e-resources and monitoring their usage; review library policies, procedures and regulations in relation to library access and collection management;
  2. implement policies and guidelines on e-resources, formulate annual development plans and participate in library-wide projects;
  3. provide liaison services to the Schools / Departments and help develop the e-collections so as to meet the University’s growing curricular and research needs;
  4. review and update the webpages in order to promote the e-resources and services;
  5. maintain the relevance of the e-collections by analyzing statistical data and compiling reports to inform the decision-making processes;
  6. supervise and provide training to the support staff;
  7. serve on committees and task forces as appropriate;
  8. undertake other duties as assigned by the Librarian or his/her delegates.

Applicants should have

  1. a recognized degree and professional qualifications (e.g. MLS, MCLIP or equivalent;
  2. at least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably with supervisory experience in libraries of higher education institutions;
  3. a sound knowledge of e-resources management;
  4. a familiarity with library management systems and discovery tools;
  5. strong coordination, organizational and interpersonal skills;
  6. an ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment;
  7. a high level of proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua).

The appointee will be required to work shifts in evenings and on weekends.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
