The HKUST Library is seeking a talented and dynamic analyst / programmer, at the rank of Assistant Manager. Reporting to the Librarian (Systems & Digital Services), the appointee will work closely with the team to design, develop and enhance systems for HKUST research output, a vital part of HKUST’s research environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain research output management systems in the Library;
  • Obtain, analyze, and summarize data for reporting and analytics;
  • Stay updated on industry trends to align product strategies with emerging developments; and
  • Provide direct support for various programming needs within the department and the Library as they arise

Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent field, along with a minimum of three years of post-qualification IT-relevant experience. In addition, applicants should have strong knowledge of modern programming languages (such as PHP, Python or Java) and experience in developing web applications. Strong proficiency in utilizing APIs is essential. Familiarity with metadata schema and standards (e.g., MARC, Dublin Core, MODS) is also required. Experience with database systems, specifically MariaDB and Apache Solr, is a plus. Experience with Docker containerization is also highly desirable. Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English and Chinese are essential for effective collaboration and support. (Duration: 2 years renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave and medical benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
