The Library is seeking an Assistant Officer to join a designated team within the Library’s Resource Management Unit. The team is responsible for procurement of both print and electronic materials, metadata management, and electronic resource management.

Major duties of the appointee include supporting acquisition activities (from ordering to payment processing), performing metadata creation and updates, and carrying out routine electronic resource management (ERM) tasks. The appointee will also be required to undertake shift duties at service counters and participate in various library activities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Applicants should have at least 5 passes including English (min. Grade C if Syllabus A or level 2 if results were obtained from 2007 onwards) and Chinese in the HKCEE; or 5 subjects, including English Language and Chinese Language, attaining level 2 or above (or equivalent) in the HKDSE.
  • Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and Chinese word processing.
  • Possession of a Joint Certificate for Library Assistants will be an advantage. Relevant working experience in a library environment is preferred.
  • Good analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team.

(Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of the contract.
