The University Library (http://library.hkbu.edu.hk) now seeks an enthusiastic team player to join its User and Information Services Cluster at the Au Shue Hung Memorial Library (Main Library). The successful candidate will provide substantial support on the implementation of the Leganto reading list system. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in integrating and coordinating the Leganto configurations and workflows with Alma (Integrated Library System) and Moodle (Course Management System);
  • Promote enhanced course reserve services to the various Faculties/Schools of the University;
  • Create promotional and instructional guides and web pages related to the Leganto system;
  • Design and deliver Leganto training sessions and workshops to instructors, teaching assistants and library staff;
  • Process course readings requests and handle relevant enquiries;
  • Perform shift counter duties at the Main Library User Services Counter / Information Desk; and
  • Participate in any other tasks as assigned by his/her supervisors.

Requirements:

Applicants should have (i) a good university degree; (ii) at least 4 years’ relevant experience, preferably in an academic library setting; (iii) current knowledge of Alma, Primo, Leganto, Moodle and other eLearning tools; (iv) strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with stakeholders within and outside of the Library; and (v) excellent communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua).

The appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Library Assistant (23240454)

The Library now seeks an enthusiastic team player to join the Digital Initiatives and Research Cluster (DIR). The successful candidate will be a proactive and eager learner, working in a team to provide support in diverse areas of research services. The position will:

  • Verify publication data and provide administrative support for the University’s Integrated Research Information and Management System (IRIMS);
  • Handle Scopus split profiles;
  • Manage open access requests/activities;
  • Support citation verification services;
  • Support e-journal publishing, etc.;
  • Provides clerical support for digital scholarship projects, including data indexing and event organisation; and
  • Perform shift counter duties. 

Applicants should possess at least a bachelor’s degree. This position requires someone with a good eye for detail, good communication skills, and a service-oriented attitude. A good command of English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua) and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team are important. A good sense of graphic design and video editing would be advantageous. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an Excel and English written test.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
