DIGITAL SERVICES AND TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

Reporting to the Assistant Librarian I (Systems), the postholder mainly assists in the management and maintenance of the Library’s digital repository – the HKAPA Digital, the Graduate Profiles project and other digital initiatives. The postholder is responsible for the preparation of digital content as well as creating and maintaining metadata for the digital objects according to international metadata standards and schemas.  He/she will also participate in the subject liaisons with other Schools or departments. The postholder will be required to work in the libraries at Wanchai and Bethanie campuses in evenings, on weekends and public holidays, and needs to react immediately to urgent events outside normal office hours, such as system outage.

 

Applicants should:

(a)   Have a recognised first degree and preferably in disciplines related to Digital Media & Technologies;

(b)   Have a minimum 2 years’ of relevant  experience;

(c)   Have experience in the design, development and administration of Web-based application systems, including the front-end user interfaces, graphics, and animations;

(d)   Have knowledge of digital imaging, AV codecs, media streaming technology, and multimedia production, editing, and conversion;

(e)   Have proficiency in Web development technologies and software, including HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, Apache, PHP, MySQL, and Web services/APIs on Linux platform;

(f)    Have good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; and

(g)   Be attentive to details and an active participant in a team.

 

Fresh Graduates are welcome to apply but preference will be given to those with working experience in academic libraries, the knowledge of Alma Library System and Primo Discovery Platform, and the knowledge in library standards, such as MARC, Dublin Core and OAI-PMH.

 

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

Appointment will be on a two-year contract with the possibility of renewal, subject to mutual agreement. A gratuity payment equal up to 10% of basic salary earned during the contract period will be payable upon satisfactory completion of contract.  Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
