The University Library at Hong Kong Baptist University is seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking Learning and Transdisciplinary Support Librarian (Assistant Librarian I) to join our dynamic team.
Your Role and Impact
In this position, you will lead innovative information literacy initiatives while championing the University’s strategic focus on transdisciplinary learning and research. Reporting to the Head of User and Information Services, you will help shape how our library contributes to and supports the evolving educational landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, evaluation, and enhancement of various information literacy programmes and information services, with a particular focus on supporting transdisciplinary learning and research.
- Build strong relationships with faculty members and administrators across academic disciplines, ensuring excellent communication and outreach.
- Serve as a Liaison Librarian for the Division of Transdisciplinary Undergraduate Programmes and other academic units as assigned.
- Deliver high-quality instructional and reference services both in-person and digitally.
- Lead and supervise staff on the Information Services team.
- Contribute to special library projects and initiatives advancing our strategic priorities.
What We’re Looking For
- A recognized professional qualification in library and information science (MLIS or equivalent).
- At least 7 years of relevant experience, preferably in academic libraries
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and supervisory experience.
- In-depth understanding of academic library systems, services and trends.
- Solid hands-on experience in planning and implementing library training and engagement initiatives, promoting library services, and developing and delivering information literacy workshops.
- Excellent communication skills in English, Cantonese and Putonghua.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Experience with transdisciplinary learning and research components, collections development, and/or research support will be an advantage.

- Competitive salary range: HK$54,870 – HK$92,965.
Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of three years, with possibility of re-appointment based on performance review, mutual agreement and funding availability.
