Learning Support Librarian (at the rank of Assistant Manger I/II)

The appointee will work in the Learning Support team of the Library. He or she is required to a) provide leadership and direction in the planning, implementation, coordination, promotion, and evaluation of the library’s information literacy programs including orientations, workshops, cultural events and all other reference and instruction services in both online and in-person formats for students and faculty; b) create and deliver digital learning objects, subject guides and other information literacy related web content through different online platforms; c) partner with faculty and other offices to embed library instruction and support into the curriculum as well as to foster collaboration between academics and the Library; d) oversee the operation of the Learning Support team including usage statistics, reporting, staff supervision, training and budget management, etc; e) derive innovative measures to promote the information literacy programs, and related library services and facilities; f) represent the Library in different committees and task forces both internally and externally; and g) perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and University Librarian. Shift duties on evenings, weekends and public holidays will be required.
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, particularly in the humanities, business or social sciences; (ii) recognized professional qualifications in Librarianship (MLS or equivalent); (iii) at least five years of relevant working experience in libraries, preferably in academic libraries; (iv) sound knowledge of information literacy, current and emerging trends in reference services, research support, intellectual property and copyright issues; (v) a good command of English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua); and (vi) the ability to work independently and in teams. Candidates with prior working experience in academic libraries or reference and instructional services will have added advantages.
Candidates of high caliber with less/more experience will also be considered for appointment at a relevant rank.
Salary and Benefits
The rank and commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.
