Librarian (Learning Support) (Job ID: JR100037)
HKUST Library is seeking a dynamic librarian to serve as a key member of the Library’s Research & Learning Support (RLS) team. RLS is dedicated to enhancing information literacy, research workflows, and academic success for students and researchers through innovative library services.
The appointee will contribute to planning, creation, delivery, and assessment of the Library’s research and learning initiatives with an emphasis on learning support in an evolving AI-assisted environment. In particular:
- Design and implement programs and initiatives that support students’ learning with new technologies.
- Design and deliver interactive, library instruction sessions (face-to-face and online).
- Create engaging learning resources, such as research guides, videos, and games.
- Serve as a subject librarian for assigned disciplines, supporting faculty and students with tailored course-related workshops, research consultations, and by selecting and building discipline-relevant collections.
- Assist in research support, including research output management (articles, data, theses, etc.), research assessment, and scholarly communication.
- Facilitate orientation programs and actively participate in outreach initiatives to promote library services and resources.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- A master’s degree in library and information science or a related field in addition to a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification working experience.
- An open mind, a growth mindset, strong self-motivation to learn and grow, proactivity, an innovative attitude, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative AI-assisted research and learning environment.
- Excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) is an advantage.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in working with students and faculty and developing and delivering engaging library instruction (face-to-face and online).
- Experience and knowledge of recent trends and developments in libraries’ research and learning services in support of higher education.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, etc.) and/or programming languages (e.g., Python) is highly desirable.

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
