The appointee will be required to:

  • perform duties relevant to the acquisition and subscription of library materials, including physical as well as electronic information resources;
  • liaise with vendors on delivery of physical items and reliable access to electronic resources;
  • assist in invoicing, accessioning, RFID tagging and compiling financial reports and statistics;
  • answer user enquires on the acquisition and subscription of library materials;
  • perform counter and shift duties, and
  • perform any other duties as may be assigned by the University Librarian or her delegates.


Applicants should have:

  • five passes in HKCEE including English Language (at least Grade C if Syllabus A; Level 2 if results are obtained from 2007 onwards), Chinese Language (Level 2 if results are obtained from 2007 onwards) and Mathematics; or a combination of results in five HKDSE subjects of Level 2 in New Senior Secondary subjects / “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects / Grade E in Other Language subjects, and the five subjects must include English Language, Chinese Language and Mathematics, with a minimum of five years of administrative or supervisory experience;
  • good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese;
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word; and
  • good customer service, interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.

Preference will be given to applicants with a bachelor’s degree and/or relevant working experience in academic libraries.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.  Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
