AI-Powered Coding and Research with Cursor

You are cordially invited to attend an upcoming Zoom webinar, “AI-Powered Coding and Research with Cursor,” co-organized by the Hong Kong Library Association and the Run Run Shaw Library, City University of Hong Kong.

Event Details

Date: 22 May 2026 (Friday)
Time: 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM (HKT)
Venue: Online via Zoom
Language: English

Distinguished Speaker:

Mr. Lewis Li (Head of Library Instruction and Reference Services, Run Run Shaw Library, City University of Hong Kong)

Biography:

Lewis Li is currently the Head of Library Instruction and Reference Services at City University of Hong Kong. He is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and experiences, both in his role as a librarian and as a wushu coach. Lewis enjoys teaching and learning, and he has a strong interest in exploring new AI literacy technologies that can be integrated into modern library services.

About the webinar

Artificial Intelligence is transforming the way developers code and researchers verify information. Cursor, an AI-powered coding assistant, integrates seamlessly with modern workflows to accelerate development, enhance productivity, and support research validation.

This workshop introduces participants to Cursor’s capabilities—from installation and pricing models to advanced features like parallel agents and integration with research tools such as Consensus and Scite via the Model Context Protocol (MCP). By the end of the workshop, participants will have the skills to harness Cursor as a powerful tool for streamlining coding workflows while ensuring accuracy and credibility in academic research.

Learning goals:

    • -Install and configure Cursor on your systems.
    • -Understand Cursor’s pricing model and choose the right plan.
    • -Use Cursor Agent, Parallel Agents, and multiple models to speed up coding and make workflows more efficient.
    • -Apply rules to guide agent behavior in coding tasks.
    • -Connect Cursor to Consensus and Scite using Model Context Protocol (MCP) for research and citation verification.

Target Audience: The session is intended for participants who are new to the topic and eager to deepen their understanding.

For the hands-on session, the following software needs to be installed:
1. Cursor Download
Cursor AI is an AI-powered coding editor that helps developers write, understand, refactor, and verify code more efficiently.
2. Python Download
Python is a programming language that is widely used in web applications, software development, data science, and machine learning.
3. Git Download
Git is a free, open-source version control system that tracks code changes, supports collaboration, branching, merging, and project history management.
4. Node.js Download
Node.js is a free, open-source, cross-platform JavaScript runtime environment that allows developers to execute JavaScript code outside of a web browser, typically on the server side.
