The Similarity and Differences : The comparison of two repository projects in VTC

VPET Repository was an EDB (Education Bureau) funded project and was aimed to collect and preserve valuable information for the local Vocational Education industry. The presentation will highlight the background and the funding process of the project, and the key challenges facing against various technical difficulties by meeting its unique requirements. VPET Repository had deviating from its original design and became a different repository system from IR.

Mr Wilson CHU 

Mr. Wilson Chu is the Librarian of Hong Kong Design Institute, a member institute of Hong Kong Vocational Training Council (VTC). He began working in academic library field since 1989, and became librarian in VTC member institute since 2008. He oversees campus library operation and responsible for various VTC centralized duties, including library system and digital library projects. He served as the Chair of Hong Kong Innovative User Group in 2015 and is currently serving as Vice President of the Hong Kong Library Association.

 

 

Preserving the Academy Archives: from DigiTool to Alma Digital

The HKAPA Libraries has developed its Digital Performing Arts Repository on DigiTool since 2013 with the objective of preserving the Academy’s archive and productions. The repository is now renamed as HKAPA Digital after its recent migration to integrate in the Library’s new Alma system. This presentation will highlight the coverage and development of the repository and will also talk about the challenges and benefits in migrating the content to the new Alma Digital platform.

Ms Lisa KWAN

Lisa has joined the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) as the Librarian since 2019, responsible for the strategic development of the Library and the overall management of the Library resources, services and learning space. Prior to joining HKAPA, Lisa has worked in the libraries of City University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where she has developed extensive experience in various aspects of the libraries, including library management, IT and systems support, multimedia resources management, building infrastructure development as well as management of digitization and institutional repository projects. She was also the Vice President of HKLA in 2020. Lisa is especially interested in applying new technologies in developing library services and preserving information resources.

Ms Jenny YEE

Jenny has joined the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) since 2006 and is currently the Head of the Library Technical Services Section. Besides overseeing the operations in cataloguing, serials control and electronic resources management, Jenny helps to manage and develop the Library’s digital repository namely HKAPA Digital since its establishment of the repository in 2013. Jenny has developed good experience and strong interest in building up the Academy Archives and the collection of local performing arts resources. She has also assisted the Librarian in starting and developing the pilot project of Graduate Profiles in collaboration with the School of Drama since 2017. The Project is now extending to cover the graduates of the School of Dance and the School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts.
