Computer Technician II 

The Chinese University of Hong Kong Library invites applications for a Computer Technician II.

The appointee will be assigned to the Infrastructure and Technical Support team under Library IT & Systems and will be responsible for (a) deploying large-scale computer systems on Windows environment; (b) administering servers; (c) troubleshooting hardware and software issues and providing technical on-site supports to end-users; and (d) other duties as assigned. Support outside office hours may be required.

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma in IT related disciplines from a recognized university or technical institute; (ii) experience with large-scale PC deployments, VDI technologies (e.g. VMware Horizon); (iii) experience with Windows-based or linux-based server administration; (iv) experience in using system imaging, deployment, and automation tools (e.g. SCCM, MDT, WDS) is an advantage; (v) good communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and end-users; and (vi) a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.

Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to mutual agreement.

 

Library Assistant II – (2400024M)

Library Assistant II 

The Chinese University of Hong Kong Library invites applications for Library Assistant II.

Reporting to the Head of Cataloguing Department, the appointee will be assisted in a re-classification project for The Universities Service Centre for China Studies (USC) Collection. Duties include (a) cataloguing and classification of USC materials; (b) records updating; (c) physical processing; and (d) other tasks as assigned.

Applicants should have (i) completed secondary education; (ii) Grade E/Level 2 or above in at least 5 subjects in HKCEE, including Chinese and English (Syllabus B, or at least Grade C in Syllabus A); OR any combination of results in at least 5 HKDSE subjects (including Level 2 or above in Chinese and English): Level 2 or above in NSS subjects; “Attained” or above in ApL subjects (subject to a maximum of 2 subjects); Grade E or above in Other Language subjects; (iii) good communication skills; (iv) a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; (v) fast and accurate typing skill; (vi) good computer skills, e.g. MS Office applications; (vii) working knowledge of AACR2, RDA, MARC21 formats, Library of Congress Classification. Knowledge of Japanese or Korean languages would be advantageous. At least 2 years’ work experience in academic libraries is preferred.

Appointment will be made on a 2-year contract.
