Library Assistant I (Academic Support) (Ref. 260417002-IE)
Duties
The appointee will work with a team of library staff to support various research and learning support services and projects of the Library. He/She will be required to:
(a) provide direct support to Faculty Librarians in delivering research, information, and data information services, including responding to and managing user enquiries;
(b) assist in the creation and dissemination of promotional content (e.g., mass emails, announcements) for library workshops, events, resources and services;
(c) support the development, maintenance, and updating of online library guides, instructional materials, and digital learning objects;
(d) conduct library tours, orientation sessions, and other training activities to enhance user knowledge and skills;
(e) aid in the compilation of procedural documentation, reports and statistical analysis to support team operations and decision-making; and
(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the University Librarian or her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree, or a recognised certificate or diploma plus not less than three years of relevant experience;
(b) preferably have experience in a large or academic library;
(c) have strong general computer literacy with proficiency in standard office applications;
(d) be familiar with AI-powered productivity tools and information sources;
(e) have proactive aptitude for learning and adapting to new technologies and AI applications;
(f) preferably have experience with Adobe Creative Suite and reference management software (e.g. EndNote); and
(g) have excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
